Designing Possible Futures is an interactive installation developed for Houston Social Design Collective that visualizes economic distress across Houston using data from the Distressed Communities Index. The project focuses on a 45-mile stretch of the city identified as distressed based on multiple socioeconomic factors.

Using this data, the installation translates abstract statistics into a physical structure that brings visibility to disparities across neighborhoods. The design emphasizes scale and spatial experience, allowing viewers to engage with the information in a more immediate and human way.

An interactive component invites participants to input their own zip codes and reflect on the changes they want to see in their communities. By combining data visualization with public interaction, the project encourages awareness, participation, and dialogue around the future of Houston.
